My name is John Miller-Monzon or JMM to those in the know, and I'm a veteran story-driven and fact-based creative producer, with a true passion for archival research and production. A disciplined thought leader and friendly collaborator, my forte is helping other creators construct compelling narratives that resonate on traditional broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms.
Premium content built for major networks and top-tier streaming platforms.
Stories engineered to travel — from linear TV to digital and emerging media.
Creative vision backed by decades of industry experience and discipline.
From the first spark of an idea to final delivery, I can help guide every phase of production with precision and creative rigor. My experience spans the full production lifecycle — ensuring every project is grounded in truth, protected legally, and ready for the screen.
Deep investigative research and narrative architecture that helps the creative team build compelling, fact-based stories from the ground up.
Expert sourcing, licensing, and integration of archival materials — I dig deep to uncover archival gems that elevate both visually and narratively.
Rigorous clearances, rights acquisition, and legal review to protect your project from concept through delivery.
End-to-end project management ensuring polished, broadcast-ready content delivered on time and on budget.
I actually started my freelance career as part of the producing team on the cult comedy classic, Strangers with Candy, starring Amy Sedaris & Stephen Colbert. And yes, Amy's as cool as you think she is (and Colbert's even smarter).
My first notable non-fiction credits were two Emmy-nominated miniseries, A Decade Under the Influence and Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues: A Musical Journey. Feature & television documentary credits include Oscar winner The Cove, Indie Spirit Award winner Crazy Love, Peabody Award winner Black Magic and the popular Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.
Additional credits include Emmy winner Mission Blue, PGA Award nominee A Place at the Table, Imagen Award winner Viva Baseball!, and critical favorite Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened. Recent credits include the docu-series THE VOW, Part Two and Amityville: An Origin Story (MGM+), and acclaimed documentaries Men of War, A King Like Me and Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive.
Proud member of Producers Guild of America (PGA), Television Academy, International Documentary Association (IDA), and Archival Producers Alliance (APA).

Here are a few favorites from my extensive production and development background — each reflecting a commitment to rigorous storytelling and premium production values.
